Types of studies

The faculties and the academies at the University “Goce Delcev” in Stip conduct academic and specialist studies in first and second cycle, and third cycle of academic PhD studies that are accredited by the Board for Accreditation and Evaluation of Higher Education and are aligned with the principles of the Bologna Declaration.
The first cycle of studies can be academic studies of three or four years through which the students gain 180 or 240 ECTS. After finishing a first cycle of studies with 240 ECTS, the student acquires an academic diploma with the appropriate title of the studied profession, and the international title used for finished first cycle of studies which is baccalaureus or baccalaurea. The first cycle of studies can also be specialist studies with the acquirement of 180 ECTS. After finishing this type fo studies, the student acquires a specialist title for the appropriate profession.
The second cycle of academic studies last from one to two years, and the students acquire 60 or 120 ECTS. After finishing the second cycle of studies, students acquire the scientific title internationally accepted as master (MA).
At the University the third cycle of studies or the PhD studies are conducted with the duration of minimum three years or 180 ECTS. After the studies are finished, the student acquires the scientific title of doctor of Philosophy or PhD.
The specialist professional studies have the duration of one year, and the students gain 60 ECTS.
The following study programmes for regulated professions are conducted at the University:
  • medicine with the duration of minimum of six years, 360 ECTS and after the studies are finished, students acquire the title graduate doctor of medicine.
  • pharmacy with the duration of five years, 300 ECTS and the acquirement of the title master of pharmacy
  • dental medicine with the duration of five years, 300 ECTS and after the studies the students acquire the title graduate doctor of dental medicine.
The University realizes specialisations and subspecialisations in the fields of general medicine, dental medicine and pharmacy, which are regulated with a separate law. After the specialisations studies are finished, students acquire the professional title of specialist or subspecialist in the appropriate field of specialisation or subspecialisation.
The University “Goce Delcev” started with the introduction of distance learning with the Microsoft Teams platform in 2019. Untill march 2020 more than 4.400 students and 360 lecturers have continuously used the tools of Microsoft 365 to acess, study and share contents, and most of the faculties have used it simultaneously with their face-to-face lessons. Nowadays, online lectures, exams and midterm exams are sucessfully conducted through the services of Microsoft Teams. In this way the Goce Delcev Univeristy has become the first university in North Macedonia with a high application of digital tools and technologies that are being actively used in the teaching process and the educational process. Moreover, this platform has been used to conduct 11.000 online lectures, 100.000 lessons with audio instruction and 50.000 lessons with video instruction.
