Representatives from the University “Goce Delcev” – Stip were part of the meeting that the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi, held with the Union of Trade Unions in Higher Education. Representatives from the UGD were professors Dr. Biljana Ivanova and Dr. Andon Majhoshev.
The meeting discussed the progress and final steps in the process of preparing and signing the collective agreements with the five state universities in the country.
The parties emphasized the importance of timely finalizing the process, assessing that the signing of the collective agreements is key to improving the status of academic workers and raising the quality of higher education.
President Gashi emphasized that the Assembly is fully committed to this process and that it will act as a priority.
“Signing the Collective Agreement is a lofty goal for me personally, but above all it is of essential importance for professors and for raising the quality of higher education,” said Gashi.
Representatives of the unions, including the delegation from the UGD, expressed their gratitude for the support and constructive approach of the President of the Assembly, evaluating his dedication as an example of institutional cooperation.

At the meeting, it was agreed to intensify activities in order to timely fulfill obligations and realize the joint commitment to improve higher education in North Macedonia.
Next week, the Assembly has also invited a negotiating team from the UGD, which aims to lead official negotiations regarding the conclusion of the collective agreement, which should be applied from 2026.
Outside of the union activities, at the meeting with the representatives of the UGD, the President of the Assembly was invited to an official visit to the “Goce Delcev” University, and in principle it was agreed that this official visit would take place soon.
