UGD is hosting a three-day workshop within the framework of our project European University Alliance ACE 2 EU, which brings together researchers from all nine member universities of the alliance.
– In the next three days, they will work on developing projects in the field of applying artificial intelligence for smart governance of society or a better society for all. All these activities should result in many new, detailed projects that will be applied for within the framework of European programs. Such events will enable an increase in both scientific activity and the influence of universities in everyday life – said the rector of “Goce Delcev” University, Prof. Dr. Dejan Mirakovski.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation also supports this event, emphasized Minister Stefan Andonovski.
– I am pleased that we as a ministry can support this event, and to welcome the engagement of the UGD, which once again shows that the latest topics emerging in Europe, both from a scientific and an application perspective, can be implemented, to organize their implementation in the country. It is important to open topics such as artificial intelligence and its use. We have a systemic approach to the use of artificial intelligence, from one aspect it is the preparation of strategic documents, which mean its proper use in the public sector, and the second aspect is the construction of infrastructure, which we are doing through the support of the large project with the EU for the establishment of the so-called artificial intelligence factory in Macedonia, i.e. connecting to an antenna and building a large language model of the Macedonian language, which will mean a systemic use of artificial intelligence in the public sector, but also support for use in the private sector. Events like this one today are significant because on a scientific basis, specific application projects for the use of artificial intelligence in the public sector can be discussed and we can see how they would function and be used in practice – said the Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski.
– I am really glad that this event is taking place in Stip, thanks to UGD. It is significant that Stip is a city that in the past was a harbinger of many changes, and the need to apply artificial intelligence in our city, state, society is evident, in order to generate development and open up new opportunities. Thanks to the scientific community, this event is aimed at how artificial intelligence can be used in the real sector, within institutions, how it can find its application – said the Mayor of Shtip, Ivan Jordanov.
– The main goal of this event, a workshop, is to bring local expertise, integrated into scientific research at universities from nine different countries, and for professors and experts here to network, collaborate, present joint scientific proposals and develop joint ideas, which can help solve socio-economic and social needs that we have locally in Europe. “Goce Delcev” University, as one of the partners in our alliance, was already a partner in six projects, and with these three-day workshop here in Stip we expect to increase the number of projects through cooperation in the “AI for Society & Smart Governance” project – said Prof. Sangita Ratnaike, President of the Aries Incubator of the ACE 2 EU alliance.
