The British Embassy in Skopje has announced an “Ambassador for a Day” competition, aimed at female students aged 18 to 22, enrolled in universities in Macedonia.
The competition was announced by British Ambassador Matthew Lawson through the Embassy’s official social media profiles.
The winner will have the opportunity to follow the work of the ambassador for a week around the celebration of March 8 – International Women’s Day and to get up close and personal with the daily work at the British Embassy in Skopje.
The Embassy points out that women and girls represent half of the world’s population, but remain underrepresented in international diplomacy, especially those from underrepresented ethnic, economic, cultural and other social backgrounds. The aim of the initiative is to promote equal opportunities and encourage young women to be leaders and vocal advocates for social change.
Who can apply?
Eligible students are those who on 8 March 2026:
• are between the ages of 18 and 22,
• are enrolled in a university in North Macedonia,
• are available to spend a full working day with activities at the Embassy.
How to apply
Candidates should make a video of 1.30 to 2 minutes in English, in which they will answer the question: “Who is your favourite British heroine and why?”
The video, together with the application form, should be sent to the email address BritishEmbassySkopje@fcdo.gov.uk, no later than 23 February 2026.
The competition is open from 4 February 2026. The winner will be contacted on 28 February and will be announced publicly on 8 March 2026.
