A series of specialized workshops on renewable energy and sustainability has begun at the Goce Delchev University in Shtip, organized in cooperation between the technical faculties of UGD, the AKOU company, and the AKOU Foundation. The workshops are intended for students from the technical faculties of UGD, in order to gain knowledge and practical skills that they can pass on to future generations.
Each workshop is dedicated to a specific topic in the field of clean energy, including:
- Solar Power Plant Project Management,
- Energy Storage,
- Agrovoltaics, and
- Sustainability in Renewable Energy.
The events are held every Thursday from 11:00 to 14:30, and participants who attend all sessions will receive an official certificate of acquired expertise.
The workshops also feature industry experts, such as Antonio Vidić, project manager at AKOU, who shared experiences from the 450 MW Shtipion solar project, one of the largest in the region.
The commitment of “AKOU” to education was also emphasized by Lea Nasif, a representative of the company, who said in her statement:
“We are collaborating with the University “Goce Delchev” to start an initiative with students to share expertise from “AKOU” in the field of renewable energy and sustainable agriculture. We are starting a series of four workshops on the topic of renewable energy and sustainability. This is the second workshop. It concerns energy storage. We are trying to share the expertise of “AKOU” on how to store energy in the most efficient way possible. We as a company have successful experience on this topic and we are trying to transfer that experience to students. Our goal is to share the expertise and how students will gain quality skills that they will use in their professional lives. We also want to collaborate with students, talk to them, explore opportunities for future employment, as well. We need young and talented people who will work in the field of renewable energy.”
The workshops are an excellent example of merging academia with industrial practice and opening new perspectives for the professional development of young people in North Macedonia.
