Shtip participated in the ABC School that was held in Targu Jiu, Romania, within the framework of the ACE²-EU European University Alliance.
Students and professors from the University “Goce Delcev” – It is an intensive international educational program that included students and academic staff from several European countries.
In addition to the participants from UGD, the ABC School was also attended by students from partner universities from Portugal, Spain, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Austria and Poland. The program was organized as a multinational and interdisciplinary academic environment, with a focus on the exchange of experiences and joint work.
The activities were focused on two topics – inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities and the prevention and institutional response to domestic violence. The program involved students from the Faculty of Educational Sciences, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the UGD, working in mixed international teams.
Within the framework of the Unite & Inspire: Breaking Barriers for People with Special Needs program, students developed solutions aimed at improving support and accessibility for children with special needs and their families. The concepts were presented to representatives of the local community, professionals and other stakeholders, who provided feedback and guidance for further development.
In parallel, part of the ABC School was the Equipped to Act: Domestic Violence program, which included practical activities related to the institutional response to domestic violence. Within that framework, students participated in a mock trial at the District Court of Târgu Jiu, as well as lectures by forensic scientists and police officers, with a focus on court proceedings, evidence collection and investigative techniques.
As part of the program, a visit to the prison in Targu Jiu was also realized, where the participants were introduced to the penological system and the manner of execution of sanctions in Romania.
During the ABC School, Prof. Dr. Olga Koshevaliska and Prof. Dr. Elena Maksimova from the Faculty of Law and Prof. Dr. Daniela Koceva from the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Belgrade held a joint interdisciplinary workshop. The workshop was dedicated to the civil and criminal aspects of domestic violence and the European legislation in this area, and was intended for students from all member universities of the ACE²-EU alliance.
The ABC School is part of the activities of the ACE²-EU European University Alliance, whose goal is to promote cooperation between universities, interdisciplinary learning and connecting education with real social challenges.
