Prof. Dr. Elena Maksimova from the Faculty of Law at the “Goce Delcev” University – Stip was recently part of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) – a professional exchange program of the United States Department of State, in which participants are nominated by the US embassies.
As a representative of the Faculty of Law at the University of Law and the Republic of North Macedonia, Prof. Dr. Maksimova was part of the “Freedom 250 – U.S. State and Local Government” program, organized on the occasion of the celebration of 250 years of US independence. The program was attended by about 180 professionals from more than 80 countries, who made professional visits to 64 American cities.
As part of the three-week program, she visited Washington, El Paso (Texas), Des Moines (Iowa) and Philadelphia, where she learned about the functioning of American state and local government, the justice system, public administration, transparency mechanisms, economic development, crisis management, public safety and regional cooperation.
The program also included meetings with representatives of state and local institutions, universities, non-governmental organizations and experts from various fields, during which experiences and good practices related to modern institutional work were exchanged.
Participation in such international programs contributes to strengthening international cooperation at Goce Delcev University, as well as to transferring acquired knowledge and experiences in the teaching and research process, through establishing new professional contacts and exchanging good practices.
