A roundtable discussion on the topic “The Crisis of Childhood: The Lost Spirit of Childhood and the Meaning of Play” promoted today the new work of authorship by Prof. Dr. Kiril Barbareev from the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the University of Belgrade. The event aroused enormous interest among the audience – the ceremonial hall of the Faculty of Law (where the event took place) was filled with students, parents, professors and academics who, through a series of questions, showed an active interest in this key social topic.
In his address, the author Prof. Dr. Kiril Barbareev pointed out that the form of modern childhood is undergoing serious changes:
“Today’s childhood is changing, the form of childhood is changing and I think that both institutions and individuals should be much more prepared for the challenges, to be much more responsible and to face these situations in a more formal context of the challenges in society. Today, several experts have been invited to speak from the perspective of psychology, from the perspective of pedagogy, from the perspective of spiritual development, from the perspective of parenting, a representative of parents, in order to explain that this topic is really a very broad topic and touches everyone in society.”
One of the promoters, Prof. Dr. Lena Damovska, emphasized that this is an exceptional work that makes a significant change in the way of relating to children in today’s fast-paced life.
The other promoters and participants of the round table – Metropolitan of Europe Mr. Pimen, Prof. Dr. Ljupcho Kevereski, Prof. Dr. Tomislav Tanevski, M.A. Marko Trošanovski and M.A. Mirjana Gjorgjevska-Gjurov – also pointed out that this is the only work of its kind in the country. They emphasized that the book deeply analyzes what it means to be a parent today and sheds light on all the challenges of parenting in the age of the Internet and social networks.
