“I am a German Stip native, I live in Berlin, and I have been an actor for 17 years,” says Božidar Kocevski, a Macedonian actor who lives and works in Germany and was a guest at Goce Delcev University in Stip as part of the event “A Film Evening with Božidar Kocevski.”
The event took place in the ceremonial hall of the Faculty of Law as part of the “Days of the German Language,” in cooperation with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, and was intended for UGD students. On this occasion, the film Prange – Man ist ja Nachbar, in which Kocevski plays a role, was screened. The film was accompanied by Macedonian and Albanian subtitles, allowing students to follow it even if they did not speak German.
Kocevski’s acting journey began in childhood. As he recalls, he used to imitate his relatives from an early age and was also active in school theatre. His love of acting led him to study at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he spent four years developing and refining his acting skills.

“After that, I spent ten years on stage, and later I started acting in films and television series. I got my first role in 2009,” Kocevski explains.
Throughout his career, he has performed on theatre stages in Freiburg and Berlin, and in 2015 and 2016, he filmed his first movie. Today, his professional career is focused on international productions, and his work takes him to various European countries.
“I see my future as very international. I can’t stay in one place; I have to keep moving from one place to another. I recently filmed in France, and in September I worked on a series that is scheduled to be released next year. I also work in Switzerland, and I travel a lot,” the actor says.
Kocevski lives in Berlin, where he is represented by an agency and follows casting calls for German as well as international film and television productions. His knowledge of several languages—German, French, English, Italian, and Macedonian—enables him to work in a variety of cultural and production environments.

“I am mostly involved in feature films and storytelling,” Kocevski emphasizes.
The film evening at UGD gave students an opportunity to learn about his acting experience, professional development, and the challenges of the international film scene, while also discovering German cinema through the work of an actor whose roots are in Štip.
