Mobilities through the European university alliance ACE²-EU enable students to gain new knowledge, get to know different cultures and exchange experiences with colleagues from several European countries.
One of them was the student Andrej Josifovski from the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University “Goce Delcev” – Stip who recently participated in the project Leisure Sports Activities: From Adventure to Responsibility in Promoting and Sustaining a Healthy Lifestyle, in Targu Giu, Romania.
What motivated you to apply again for mobility related to active aging?
“This mobility in Târgu Jiu was my second mobility on the topic of active aging. The biggest reason for reapplying was the title of the project, as the topic is closely related to my profession as a physiotherapist. I wanted to see what the differences are in the approach and views towards active aging between Spain, where I previously participated in a similar project, and Romania. My goal was to share the experience I gained with my colleagues in Macedonia and to contribute to raising awareness of the importance of this topic.”
What is the importance of international experience for students?
“If a student has an open attitude, accepts cultural differences, receives advice, learns from their own mistakes and at the same time shares their opinions and views, then international experience is an invaluable source of motivation and personal development. Such mobilities help build new friendships, professional contacts and further enrich the CV of each student.”
The main goal of the project was to show how important physical activity is in early old age. Combined with proper nutrition, it allows for greater independence, better quality of life and maximum mobility in later years. Andrej says that as a future healthcare professional, he was particularly interested in following the different approaches applied in European countries.
What is your message to the students of UGD?
“I encourage all UGD students to follow the calls for mobility and carefully consider all available opportunities. The topic of the project does not always have to be directly related to your study program to gain meaningful experience. Apply, travel, meet new people and cultures and take advantage of every opportunity for personal and professional development. Such experiences leave a lasting mark and represent a significant step in building a future career.”
