Course type: Applied Blended Challenge (ABC) program
These are blended credit programs that use a pedagogical approach. They include at least one week of mobility for participating students and are open to students from all ACE2-EU members, including students from Goce Delchev University.
The main objective of ABC is for students to work collectively to develop plans and solutions for real-world societal challenges, identified by external stakeholders and linked to EU priorities.
Course duration and dynamics
- Components and hours: 10 hours online, 25 hours in person + 55 hours of independent and group work.
- Online sessions: 17 – 19 November 2025 (15:00–17:00 CEST) and 12 December 2025 (10:00–12:00 CEST)
- Offline sessions: 1 – 5 December 2025 (Targu Jiu, Romania).
Award, credits and certificate
Upon successful completion, participants receive 3 ECTS credits and a certificate of participation.

Course Description and Learning Objectives
The course is intended for those who want to develop skills, knowledge and attitudes for effective and respectful communication with people with disabilities, especially with neurological disorders. The aim is to encourage social inclusion, adapted communication, tolerance and appropriate support.
The focus is on creating inclusive solutions to real challenges, in the spirit of the vision “Society for All”, through a service-learning and project-based learning approach, with the active involvement of students in the community.
How is the course structured?
1. Online introduction (November 17–19, 2025):
- Topics: sustainable development, human rights, neurodiversity, special educational needs, universal design for learning (UDL), alternative and augmentative communication, accessibility, assistive technologies, “user-centered” and “person-centered” design.
2. Practical work (1–5 December 2025, Târgu Jiu):
- Modules with direct work in centers for people with disabilities;
- Participation in adapted games and activities;
- Observation and interaction in inclusive education centers;
- Analysis of case studies for linking educational, social and health services.
3. Online final activities (12 December 2025):
- Reflection, exchange of learning;
- Preparation of workshops, campaigns and mini-projects in home institutions.
Specific objectives:
- to strengthen understanding of the needs of vulnerable groups (with a focus on neurological disabilities);
- to promote the vision of “Society for All” and educate future professionals as agents of change;
- to encourage a multidisciplinary approach to support and inclusion.
Upon completion, students will be able to:
- explain key concepts related to sustainable development, human rights and inclusive education;
- apply universal design principles in educational and social contexts;
- use assistive technologies;
- create strategies for individualized support (person-centered planning);
- communicate effectively with people with different types of disabilities;
- work multidisciplinary to develop integrated solutions;
- organize inclusive educational and social activities;
- transfer knowledge through workshops and community campaigns.

Students (undergraduate and postgraduate) from ACE2-EU partner universities, in particular from the following fields:
