“Goce Delcev” University – Stip, as part of the “European Researchers’ Night”, opened its laboratories to high school students and all interested citizens.
High school students had the opportunity to visit the laboratories and follow the presentations of the professors from the UGD.
In addition to the open laboratories, the “European Researchers’ Night” will be marked by debates, expert lectures, and will end with a multimedia event “Art and Science under the Stars”, which will be held in the “Jordan Mijalkov” Sports Hall (previously planned for “Sloboda” Square in Shtip, but due to weather conditions the location has been changed).
The Vice-Rector for Investments, Maintenance and Development, Prof. Dr. Darko Lazarov, stated that the “European Researchers’ Night” is a European scientific event in which more than 50 universities across Europe are involved.
“For this purpose, we are opening the doors of our University wide to students, to young high school students, but also to curious citizens. Through a series of activities, interactive workshops, scientific experiments, but also through cultural, that is, artistic manifestations, we will try to promote the University and its scientific research dimension, that is, its role in society,” says Lazarov.
He pointed out that in this way they show that UGD-Stip is a modern European university that opens its doors wide and is transparent to the public. The goal of the University “Goce Delcev” – Stip is not only to create and create science, but much more, to transfer it to young people so that they can also apply it in solving various challenges that our society faces every day.
Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Mileva, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics at UGD – Stip, says that science is celebrated today, because it is the driving force of our society – today and in the past.
“We have opened the doors of the laboratories. Young people will be able to get acquainted with our laboratories, there will be experiments, there will be popular science lectures, there will be a panel discussion about food where they will learn that food can be a friend or an enemy to their health. The main event takes place tonight, where we will have a rich artistic and cultural program, but we will also have an exhibition presenting all faculties and laboratories and some of the high schools from Shtip and Eastern Macedonia,” said Mileva.
In addition to the open laboratories, two more significant activities took place in the daily part of the “European Night of Researchers” at the UGD.
A Panel was held at the Faculty of Agriculture on the topic “The role of scientific achievements in society; Food – a friend or an enemy of your health”. The moderator of the Panel was the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Emilija Arsov, and the participants were: Prof. Dr. Valentina Velkovska-Nakova and Prof. Dr. Tatjana Rushkovska, full professors at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University “Goce Delcev” – Stip; Prof. Dr. Biljana Popeska, full professor at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University “Goce Delcev” – Stip and Prof. Dr. Dusica Popova, associate professor at the Faculty of Tourism and Business Logistics, University “Goce Delcev” – Stip.
The second event is “The Power of Science”, where lectures were presented by renowned professors of the UGD. The moderator was Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Mileva, full professor at the Faculty of Informatics, University “Goce Delcev” – Stip, and the lectures were on several topics:
- Prof. Dr. Zdenka Stojanovska, full professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University “Goce Delcev” – Stip, topic: Science and us;
- Prof. Dr. Kiril Barbareev, full professor at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, “Goce Delcev” University – Stip, topic: Pedagogy of Success: How do we learn to be (un)successful?;
- Prof. Dr. Sasho Koceski, full professor at the Faculty of Informatics, “Goce Delcev” University – Stip, topic: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics – Where are the Limits and What is Left for Man?;
- Prof. Dr. Dejan Mirakovski, full professor at the Faculty of Natural and Technical Sciences, “Goce Delcev” University – Stip, topic: The Science That Protects Us – From Climate Change to the Air We Breathe;
- Prof. Dr. Vanja Filipovski, titular associate professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, “Goce Delcev” University – Stip, topic: Challenges of Medical Diagnostics in the Modern Age.
