The week in which the University “Goce Delcev” celebrates 19 years since its establishment will be filled with a series of events, which will culminate with the Solemn Academy on Friday, March 27. In addition to numerous traditional events – Oratorical Evening, a concert at the Music Academy, Promotion of Doctoral Degrees, guests from the eight partner universities of the University of Georgia within the European Alliance of Universities ACE²-EU are also staying in Shtip this week.

In addition to the presence of the rectors from all universities, the event is also attended by representatives of students and professors, who will be involved in the implementation of some of the work packages of the Alliance’s activities. Starting today, for the next three days, a three-day Workshop is being held within the framework of the European University Alliance ACE²-EU, aimed at improving student and academic mobility, as well as developing new educational and research programs.

Through interactive sessions, participants will exchange experiences, analyze challenges and create specific recommendations for improving mobility and participation in European academic initiatives.

– More than 80 guests from the Alliance, from the eight partner universities, will be present at the UGD in Stip throughout the working week and will work together with our professors and students to create new joint study programs, to improve the conditions for mobility – both for students and for teaching staff, and to create an entity into which our universities will have to turn in the future, a European university, which we have not long ago called not only an alliance of universities, but also an alliance of friends. I am truly honored that the rectors of all eight partner universities will also be present, during tomorrow we will have an entire session dedicated to the creation of that joint legal entity and the creation of joint study programs. All these events will end with the Ceremonial Academy on Friday, on the occasion of marking 19 years since the establishment of the University “Goce Delcev”. I am sure that this creates a new qualitative environment, both for our students and for our employees. Better connections with partner universities make it much easier to find appropriate study programs, exchange students and teachers, and at the same time we have significantly more space for financing these mobilities, so last year I think that over 150 mobilities have already been implemented, we are going at the same pace, because we are combining all Erasmus programs and mobilities from the Alliance. I believe that this process will become even more intense, students are increasingly participating, and I believe that it will be to the satisfaction of both teachers and students – said the rector of the University of Goce Delcev, Prof. Dr. Dejan Mirakovski.

According to Prof. Dr. Vitana Vicenje from the University of Applied Engineering Sciences in Lithuania, otherwise the head of Work Package 6, mobilities, both of students and teachers, are an important part of the activities in the Alliance.

– Here we present the activities of Work Package 6, the package dedicated to mobilities and values. In a way, we are trying to map and promote all those supporting documents, to make sure that we promote smooth mobility in the alliances in some way. As a work package dedicated to the promotion of these mobilities, we generally in the Alliance have set a goal to achieve about 9000 mobilities, with physical presence, but also blended mobilities, those with a virtual component. Of course, this is a challenge, but today’s goal here is to recognize all the challenges, shortcomings, problems that have arisen around the previous mobilities and to try to map, structure the benefits, future directions on how to improve towards achieving these mobilities.

Mobilities are very important for students, and from the experience so far in the Alliance, there is room for progress, because there are many similarities in the work of the member universities of the Alliance, which is certainly good for students, believes Sonia Mancagliano, a member of the student body of the Alliance.

– The benefits of this event are great, especially when it comes to students. Here there is space to share all those positive and negative experiences that arise from mobilities. We have space and opportunity to highlight our views on what the Alliance is, what mobilities are, our way of participating and how we can increase our competences, but also our skills.
