Goce Delcev University is among the institutions that received European recognition within the framework of the European Student Card Initiative (ESCI), for its contribution to advancing the digital transformation of student mobility in Europe.

The recognition was awarded at the conference “European Student Card Initiative: Shaping Student Mobility Beyond 2027”, which was held on June 11 in Brussels and brought together more than 220 participants from European higher education institutions, national agencies, student organizations and other relevant stakeholders in the field of higher education.

As part of the ceremony, 32 ESCI Champions were awarded for the period 2025–2027, who are recognized as leaders in the implementation of digital solutions that facilitate student mobility across Europe.

According to Martina Nikolovska from the Erasmus Office at UGD, this is the second term in which representatives of the University are part of the ESCI Champions network.

“This is our second generation of champions. We are currently working on a new strategy to improve the platform for digitizing the student card, interinstitutional agreements and the Erasmus application through questionnaires and online meetings,” Nikolovska points out.

She adds that Goce Delcev University has started developing student cards since the academic year 2024/2025, while it has been successfully using digital agreements through the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP Dashboard) system for the third year.

“We currently have more than 400 signed agreements with partner institutions, which is a significant basis for the development of international cooperation and mobility of students and employees,” Nikolovska points out.

The European Student Card Initiative is one of the key European initiatives for the digitization of higher education, which aims to make student mobility simpler, more accessible and more efficient for students and universities across Europe.

The recognition for the UGD is a confirmation of the University’s continuous investments in the modernization of administrative processes, digitalization of services, and active participation in European educational initiatives.
