The Department of Italian Language and Literature at the University “Goce Delcev” – Stip is organizing a Training for teachers of Italian language and literature, dedicated to modern approaches to testing and assessing language competences. The training is implemented with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Skopje.
The lecturer of the training is Prof. Lorenzo Rocca, Associate Professor and Linguistic Expert of the Council of Europe, as well as Head of National and International Language Projects at the Dante Alighieri Society. He is a member of the CLIQ Scientific Committee and has many years of experience at the Center for Evaluation and Language Certification (CVCL) at the University for Foreigners in Perugia, where he worked as a test developer, trainer and activity coordinator.
His research focuses on the relationship between teaching and assessment in a migration context, and he has published scientific papers, syllabi and exam specifications for adult migrants. Within ALTE, he is the Chair of LAMI (Language Assessment Migration and Integration), and in 2020 he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor.
The topic of the training is “Assessment and Assessment of Language Competencies”, and the program is structured in two sessions:
- Friday, February 27, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM;
- Friday, March 13, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
The Training will cover several key thematic areas, including: the basics of language testing, testing techniques and assessment approaches, the stages of test development according to ALTE standards, criteria for selecting input, constructing appropriate and authentic tasks, developing assessment scales, awarding points in subjective tests, as well as the language and writing profile – from the QCER to the ALSILMA reference guide. Additionally, there will be a discussion on defining the student profile and the implications of multilingual and intercultural education on the assessment process. With this Training, the University “Goce Delcev” – Stip continues its commitment to improving teaching practices and strengthening the professional competences of foreign language teachers, in accordance with European standards and modern educational trends.
