By laying fresh flowers at the memorial bust in the courtyard of the Rectorate, the University “Goce Delcev” – Stip marked the 154th anniversary of the birth of the Macedonian revolutionary and ideologist Goce Delcev.
A delegation of the UGD, led by the rector, laid fresh flowers, and among those present were the mayor of the Municipality of Stip, Ivan Jordanov, as well as representatives of local and national institutions.
As part of the commemoration, a suitable speech was also organized, prepared and performed by high school students, whereby the young generations once again confirmed the importance of the figure and work of Delcev in Macedonian history.
Goce Delcev is one of the most prominent leaders of the Macedonian revolutionary and liberation movement and a lasting symbol of the struggle for an independent Macedonian state. Chroniclers will note that Delcev was a great man with an even greater thought – with pure and invaluable revolutionary work and with an extraordinary natural reflex for the time in which he acted. He remains a human phenomenon and an eternal testament to the Macedonian national existence.
Without a doubt, Goce Delcev represents the brightest figure of the Macedonian revolutionary work, with high human virtue, tireless revolutionary activity and a strong intellectual dimension. He was educated in Thessaloniki and Sofia, taught in Stip, and dedicated his entire life to creating and strengthening the TMORO network and the idea of an independent Macedonian state.
Delcev is also remembered for his thought that he understood the world as a “field for cultural competition between nations”, a vision that still retains its contemporary and universal value today.
