Nostrification

Nostrification is a process of recognition of a foreign diploma conducted by the Ministry of education and science of the Republic of N. Macedonia. The purpose of the nostrification of the secondary school diploma is to facilitate the access to further higher education. It is highly recommended to start the validation process at least 5 weeks ahead prior to term of submitting the documents to the Foreign Student Admission Office of the University.

Applicants need to have enough time to fulfil all requirements. Applicants will receive the decision on recognition of their secondary school diploma only after they have submitted an official request for nostrification, complete with all the required documents.

You can find the list of the necessary documents on the website of the Ministry of Education and science:

High school diploma with an apostille stamp (or a stamp from the Ministry of foreign affairs for the countries that aren’t part of the Hague convention)

    • two copies of the diploma (one notarized);
    • two copies of the diploma translated into Macedonian language by official court interpreter (one notarized)
  • High school transcripts for each year 
    • two copies of each high school transcript (one notarized);
    • two copies of each high school transcript translated into Macedonian language by official court interpreter (one notarized);
  • Application form
  • Birth certificate and two copies  
    • if the birth certificate is not issued by the Republic of North Macedonia, it should be translated into two copies by official court interpreter, one of which should be notarized.
  • Citizenship certificate and two copies
    • if the citizenship certificate is not issued by the Republic of North Macedonia, it should be translated into two copies by official court interpreter, one of which should be notarized.
  • Two separate proof of payments – 3000 MKD and 250 MKD

At the point of submitting the documents to the Ministry of education and science the applicants will receive a receipt with a number and date as a confirmation that their documents have been taken for assessment. Applicants should keep the receipt and submit its copy to the Admission office of Goce Delchev University for the purpose of applying to Macedonian language course or English study programmes.
