Goce Delcev University in Stip has recorded a 28 percent increase in the number of applicants compared to the same period last year. A week before the first enrollment period, over 560 applications have already been registered, informed the rector, Prof. Dr. Dejan Mirakovski, at today’s press conference dedicated to enrollments for the academic year 2026/2027.
The first enrollment period will be realized next week, i.e. on August 19, 20 and 21. The preliminary results will be announced on August 26, while the enrollment of accepted candidates will take place from September 1 to 3.
“The application system is already open and active. Students can submit applications electronically, and documents will be received physically from August 19 to 21. Our teams are ready, and enrollment documents will be received not only in Shtip, but also in Skopje and Strumica,” noted Rector Mirakovski.
3,341 vacant places and focus on the most sought-after faculties
For the new academic year, the University offers a total of 3,341 vacant places at 12 faculties and three academies. Of these, 1,692 places are in the state quota, 972 are intended for co-financed students, and 735 places are planned for part-time students.
According to initial data, the greatest interest is usually recorded at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, the Faculty of Informatics, as well as the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law, but there is also significant interest in the technical faculties.
Exemption from participation and free studies in Macedonian
UGD continues this year with scholarships for excellence. The best-ranked candidates in the first enrollment period who have over 80 points will be exempted from participation. This measure covers dozens of students at almost all faculties, including 10 students each at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Informatics, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Law, as well as a certain quota for technical faculties and art academies.
Special emphasis is placed on nurturing the native language.
“This year, at the Faculty of Philology, in the Macedonian Language Group, we will have complete exemption for students. They study for free in all four years as direct support for the study of the Macedonian language,” Mirakovski emphasized.
Adaptation to the labor market and European diplomas
Responding to journalistic questions, the rector emphasized that the University continuously improves study programs in cooperation with the business community and chambers of commerce, which results in a high percentage of employability among graduates.
In addition, the UGD is working intensively on internationalization. The development of joint study programs for double degrees, intended initially for the second and third cycles of studies, is underway. Students also have over 200 mobility opportunities available through the European University Alliance, as well as cooperation with about 400 institutions across Europe through the Erasmus Plus program.
The second and third enrollment deadlines are scheduled for September, and the new academic year traditionally starts on October 1.
