The Faculty of Educational Sciences at the “Goce Delcev” University – Stip, in cooperation with the “Prosvetno delo” Publishing House – Skopje, made a donation of books, picture books, coloring books and other educational materials for the needs of the “Astibo” Kindergarten in Stip.
The activity is part of a broader cooperation aimed at encouraging reading among the youngest and improving the educational process.
The donation was followed by a workshop for children, the aim of which is to bring books and reading closer to the youngest from preschool age, through direct contact with books, illustrations and the written word.
The Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Prof. Dr. Trajce Stojanov, emphasized that the initiative was implemented within the framework of the cooperation with “Prosvetno delo”, as part of the efforts of the Faculty and partner institutions to contribute to the community.
– We started an initiative under the auspices of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, in cooperation with “Prosvetno delo”. We prepared a modest donation for the kindergarten. With this, both the Faculty and “Prosvetno delo” show themselves to be socially responsible, and in a way we deepen the cooperation – emphasized Stojanov.
He indicated that the Faculty has established long-term cooperation with both “Prosvetno delo” and the Kindergarten, announcing the continuation of the partnership and the implementation of activities of mutual interest.
She pointed out that through various forms of cooperation, they work together to support the printed word, promote reading, activate students and improve the educational process.
In the specific activity, as Miraschieva pointed out, the donation is directed to the Kindergarten “Astibo”, which has been a partner and collaborator of the Faculty of Educational Sciences for years.
– This is another form in order to enrich the content of the cooperation – Miraschieva emphasized.
Ksenija Makazlieva from “Prosvetno delo” emphasized that the idea of the long-term cooperation is to connect practice, universities and publishers, with a common goal – creating quality publications for children and encouraging interest in books.
The activity in Stip is a continuation of the campaign “Reading in the Age of Screens, a Battle Between Books and Algorithms”, within the framework of which a consultation was organized in May, at which good practices were shared on how educators and parents can bring books closer to children.
– In addition to the consultations where good practices were shared, we are now moving on to practical experiences, with a donation under the auspices of the Faculty of Educational Sciences to make our contribution, to be socially responsible, and most importantly – to get children back into reading – Makazlieva emphasized.
– This donation is a small contribution to that, but of course, the cooperation will continue in the future and I hope for a mutual benefit of all parties involved – added Dean Stojanov.
The director of the Kindergarten “Astibo”, Ivana Angelichkova, expressed gratitude for the donation and emphasized that the activity represents an opportunity to bring the book closer to children from an early age.
– We are especially proud that we contribute to children from a young age getting to know it better, seeing the illustrations and hearing what is written in the book – said Angelichkova.
She pointed out that the donation will contribute to the renewal and enrichment of the library fund in the kindergarten, in order to follow new editions and create better conditions for educational work.
– The donation is an incentive for work, renewal of the library fund of our kindergartens, in order to follow all the novelties and contribute to a better education for children – emphasized the director.
Prof. Dr. Snezana Miraschieva from the Faculty of Educational Sciences highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the Faculty, kindergartens and the Publishing House “Prosvetno delo”.
– This is another form of cooperation between the Faculty of Educational Sciences, kindergartens and the Publishing House “Prosvetno delo”, and the cooperation has lasted for more than three decades, in fact, since the establishment of the former Faculty of Pedagogy, then the Faculty of Educational Sciences, and in the last 19 years, the University “Goce Delcev” – highlighted Miraschieva.
She pointed out that the role of parents in creating the habit of reading is particularly important for preschool children, through joint reading, including before bedtime.
– It is very important to influence parents, to remind them that they should also read to their children, especially before bedtime, and in this way to build the habit of further recruiting them into a reading army, to be present in libraries – said Makazlieva.
The “Goce Delcev” Library – Stip, the “Astibo” Kindergarten, the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the UGD and “Prosvetno delo” are participating in the implementation of the activity.
The initiative is an example of connecting higher education, preschool institutions, libraries and publishing, with a common goal – creating an environment in which books and reading will have their place from the earliest age.
For the Faculty of Educational Sciences, such activities are an opportunity for students and future educators to connect with practice, while at the same time making a concrete contribution to the improvement of the educational process in the local community.
