The Faculty of Informatics at Goce Delcev University today signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Amenexia – a Shtip-based company with an international presence, which works in the field of e-commerce and artificial intelligence.

The cooperation aims to build a direct bridge between the academic community and the industry, providing students with practical experience, mentorship and involvement in real projects.

The company’s CEO, Igor Ilievski, emphasized that the Memorandum represents a significant step towards the integration of education with the real business sector.

“This Memorandum represents a framework and a bridge between education and industry, especially in the fields of e-commerce and artificial intelligence. We enable student internships, mentorship and participation in real projects, which means direct application of knowledge,” said Ilievski.

He added that the company already has a strong connection with the University, emphasizing that a significant part of the employees are students from the UGD.

“For students, this means real cooperation, early involvement in the industry and work on specific applications in the field of artificial intelligence,” Ilievski pointed out.

Speaking about the development of the industry, he made a comparison with the company’s beginnings in 2004.

“Back then, the technology was new and people were inexperienced. Today, we have advanced technology, but also much greater competition and a developed industry. In recent years, the biggest change has been brought by artificial intelligence, which has the potential to revolutionize e-commerce,” he emphasized.

Regarding the global presence, Ilievski clarified that although the company operates internationally, its roots remain in Shtip.

“The company has a presence in Panama and New York, but it was founded in Shtip and most of the team is here, in Macedonia,” he said.

He also touched on the challenges in online commerce, especially in the area of fraud.

“Companies like ours can help protect against fraud by developing software that protects both sellers and buyers. In Macedonia, although the technology exists, the habits for safe online shopping are still developing,” Ilievski added.

On behalf of the Faculty, Dean Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Mileva emphasized that this cooperation is of exceptional importance for students.

“Signing an agreement with a company that has such experience is of great importance, above all for our students. We enable them to work on real problems, with real tools and to develop projects related to the needs of the industry,” said Mileva.

She added that through this partnership, students will have the opportunity to connect their academic obligations – including diploma and master’s theses – with real challenges from the business sector.

The cooperation between the Faculty of Informatics and Amenexia represents another step towards the modernization of higher education and its alignment with the dynamic needs of the technology industry.
