Marija Vangjelowska, a student at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Gdansk, participated in the ACE2EU Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Fruit and Vegetables – Sustainable Cultivation, Diet and Health Impact”, which was held in Gdansk, Poland.
During the program, lectures, workshops and practical activities related to food safety and quality were held, with students actively participating in laboratory analyses and modern research processes.
“We had the opportunity to independently perform microbiological analyses with selective nutrient media, as well as to become familiar with modern analytical methods for detecting pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables,” emphasizes Vangjelowska.
Of particular importance was the visit to the University Clinical Center in Gdansk, where the students learned about the work of the hospital pharmacy and the process of preparing cytotoxic drugs. They also had the opportunity to see modern, highly automated and robotic laboratories.
“The visit to the clinical center and laboratories was extremely useful because it allowed us to see how the theory is applied in real clinical and laboratory practice,” she adds.
For future healthcare professionals, this experience represents a significant step towards understanding the latest technologies, analytical techniques and standards in modern laboratory and pharmaceutical practice.
“This international experience allowed me to gain greater confidence, practical skills and a better understanding of the real-world application of the theory,” concludes Vangjelovska.
