Kostadin Hubrev, a medical student, participated in the ACE²-EU Flavour School, held at the University of Santarém, Portugal, dedicated to the topic “From Living Soil to Living Food: A One Health perspective”.
Through lectures, workshops and field activities, students within the ACE²-EU Alliance worked together to analyze and understand the relationship between soil and human health.
During the program, the concept of “One Health” was introduced, which explains in a simple way the connection between human health, the environment and food.
“It was important for me that through various examples and discussions the direct connection between soil, food and human health was shown,” Hubrev emphasizes.

“This experience helped me understand how important an interdisciplinary approach is for modern medicine and for understanding global health challenges,” he adds.
As a leader in international collaborations, UGD enables students to study at home and gain international experiences in European academic environments.
“Through the ACE²-EU Alliance and the Erasmus+ opportunities offered by UGD, I have gained experiences that make me more confident and better prepared for my future professional career,” concludes Hubrev.
