The Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University “Goce Delchev” – Shtip today solemnly celebrated 30 years since the transformation of the Pedagogical Academy “Goce Delchev” into the Faculty of Pedagogy.
Former deans, professors and associates, as well as representatives of state and local institutions that have supported the faculty over the years, received recognition.
The ceremonial program was enriched with musical performances by students and professors from the Music Academy at the University “Goce Delchev”.
The Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Prof. Dr. Trajce Stojanov, in his address, emphasized that the 30th anniversary represents a significant jubilee, but also a milestone in the longer historical line of the institution.
“On June 19, 1995, by decision of the then University “St. Cyril and Methodius” and with the approval of the competent ministry, the Higher Pedagogical Academy grew into the Faculty of Pedagogy, thus turning the two-year studies into four-year ones. Although 30 years is a significant anniversary, it is only one stage in the development of the institution, whose roots date back to 1946 with the founding of the Teachers’ School,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Stojanov.
He emphasized that with the establishment of the University “Goce Delchev” in 2011, the Faculty of Educational Sciences was also established, in which all previous disciplines of modern pedagogical science were integrated.
“This long tradition obliges us not only to continue, but also to work even harder. Numerous teachers, lecturers and pedagogues have emerged from this faculty, and in the future we plan to accredit new study programs in order to expand the faculty and respond to modern educational challenges, especially those brought about by the development of information technology and artificial intelligence,” added the dean.
The former dean of the faculty, now retired, Prof. Dr. Blazhe Kitanov, also addressed the ceremonial academy, who noted that he spent almost his entire working life at this institution.
“I worked at this faculty from 1980 to 2020. It was not easy, but it was always exciting, interesting and motivating to work on the education of teachers and educators. Today, in conditions of dominance of information technology, a new approach is needed in working with students, in order to bring books and knowledge closer to the younger generations,” Kitanov noted.
By celebrating this significant anniversary, the Faculty of Educational Sciences once again confirmed its role as one of the supporting pillars in the education system and in the development of pedagogical science in the country.
