Prof. Dr. Vancho Adziski from the Faculty of Natural and Technical Sciences at the University “Goce Delcev” in Stip received the “Best Paper” award at the international scientific conference “11th International Conference on Geotechnical Research and Engineering, ICGRE 2026”, which was held as part of the CSEE (Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering) Congress in Paris, France, from 16 to 18 April 2026.
The award was given in competition with more than 100 scientific papers presented at the conference, which is a significant international recognition for the quality and scientific relevance of the presented research.
At the conference, Prof. Dr. Adziski presented the scientific paper entitled “Portfolio-Scale Screening of Conditional Life-Loss Consequences from Tailings-Dam Failure Using Open Global Data”.
The research addresses a modern approach to screening and assessing the potential consequences of possible tailings dam failures, using satellite data and geospatial methods. The topic is of particular importance for the fields of geotechnics, risk management, mining and environmental protection.
This recognition is another confirmation of the international visibility of the scientific research work of the University “Goce Delcev” and the active contribution of the Faculty of Natural and Technical Sciences in the development of applied research in the field of geotechnics, mining and geospatial analysis.
